Jordan Davis’ album made its long-awaited debut on Friday (February 17), and the country singer-songwriter credits the team effort that it took to bring Bluebird Days to life.

Bluebird Days includes a few previously-released songs from its 17-track list tat quickly became fan-favorites, including the award-winning anthem (the Shreveport, Louisiana-born artist’s first-ever Song of the Year victory at the 2022 Country Music Association Awards) featuring country giant Luke Bryan, “Buy Dirt,” and the heartache duet, “Midnight Crisis” with Danielle Bradbery. Other highlights include “Money Isn’t Real,” “Next Thing You Know” and “What My World Spins Around,” among others. Davis reflected on the way he and his producer, Paul DiGiovanni, wanted Bluebird Days to take shape — including garnering ides from co-writers who appear throughout the project — in a statement shared by his record label:

“The main thing I wanted it to be is the most honest record or collection of songs that I’ve ever put out, so you get songs like ‘Short Fuse,’ ‘Bluebird Days,’ ‘Money Isn’t Real’, you know those kinda heavier songs and then I also wanted this to be our big thing going into this with me and Paul and even telling some of my songwriters it’s like, man, we want this to kinda be a past present, and how we’re going to live the rest of our life off of. The past being songs like ‘What I Wouldn’t Do,’ ‘Sunday Saints,’ ‘You Got My Number’ to kinda present songs–I would throw ‘Money Isn’t Real’ in there ‘What My World Spins Around,’ ‘Buy Dirt,’ ‘Next Thing You Know’ and then the future songs like ‘Part of It’ that are kind of like ‘Fishing Spot’ which is kind of about my grandpa, you know, how I spend time with him now. So those were kind of the tent poles of what I wanted it to be. You know I wanted it to be as creative as possible and throw together some type of story and tie that all into what I feel like ‘Bluebird Day’ — which is what I feel like is an ideal perfect day which is where I feel like I’m at in my personal life, my professional life — and then kinda tie it back to the song itself being a cautionary tale, it can go away really quick if you lose sight of some really important stuff. So, those are kind of what I wanted to do with this album.”

“I’ve settled into a really good headspace in writing songs, which is rooted in being honest—about past things that I’ve gone through, good or bad, and about some things that have kind of scared me about the future,” Davis said, per his record label. “The big thing for me was to show my growth. Growth in shows, growth in the songwriting, growth in the topics we’re touching on. I really wanted to show how I’ve changed as an artist and a songwriter, for the better, than on my first album.”

Davis spoke about his second full-length album, following Home State in 2018 — including the personal meaning behind the title, Bluebird Daysduring an appearance on The Bobby Bones Show in November. Davis also explained of the project’s name on Instagram at that time: “A ‘Bluebird Day’ is, not a cloud in the sky, sun shining, north wind, hot coffee, ducks are flying, which I’ve kind of rolled into this kind of moment in my life which feels like that.”

“Can’t tell y’all how proud I am of this record and I can’t wait for y’all to dig into these songs…Thank you to everyone for the support on this release,” Davis said as his album released on Friday. Find the Bluebird Days track list here, and listen to a few of the songs below.
