Dolly Parton teamed up with Kelsea Ballerini on one of the most highly-anticipated collaborations of the 57th ACM Awards. The two country artists delivered their rendition of “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans,” the first song Parton debuted from her latest album.
Parton released Run, Rose, Run on Friday (March 4), and its companion novel of the same name released Monday (March 7). The fiction thriller was co-authored by James Patterson, and follows “a young singer-songwriter on the rise and on the run, determined to do whatever it takes to survive,” the iconic artist’s website reads. Ballerini plays one of the characters in the audiobook, Patterson noted when he took the stage at the ACM Awards.
Parton donned blue jeans, a sunny yellow top and a cowgirl hat as she sang and played a rose-patterned guitar during the live rendition of her song. It was all set to a sky-blue background with wispy clouds floating in the background.
“So many people come to Nashville with their sack of songs,” Parton previously said in a statement. “Whether they're running from anything or not, they're running towards a future. That's what 'Big Dreams and Faded Jeans' is all about. I am so pleased to finally share the first song from this exciting new album with all of you!” Parton also shared “Blue Bonnet Breeze, a story about star-crossed lovers, and “Woman Up (And Take It Like A Man),” an inspirational anthem that Parton described as another “9 to 5” for its purpose as a female empowerment anthem.
