Singer-songwriter Brent Cobb paid tribute to a late, Texas-born country artist with a rendition of a mid-1970s ballad when he appeared on a recent episode of God’s Country.

Cobb delivered an acoustic cover of “Anyhow, I love you.” It's a song that folk and country singer-songwriter and luthier Guy Clark released on his 10-track album, Texas Cookin’, in 1976. The Texas Outlaw artist was born in Monahans — located in Ward County, in the western part of the Lone Star state — in November 1941. Clark died following a battle with cancer in May 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 74.

Cobb joined brothers Dan and Reid Isbell on God’s Country “to discuss the family tradition of deer ham cook-offs and music in his family. Brent shares some incredible stories about his family history in the music industry, including how he started working with his cousin, Grammy Award winning Producer, Dave Cobb. He discusses new music, touring, and the decision to move back to Georgia to be close to his family, while still pursuing music. The One That Got Away will give you the ‘Tailgate Blues,’ and this gravorite performance may be one of the best yet.”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke CombsMiranda LambertScotty McCreeryJon PardiLainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast this year. Guests appearing on the show so far include HARDYDustin LynchColbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”
