Tyler Hubbard reflected on growing up in Georgia and how he built his career as a smash-hit singer-songwriter in Nashville, delving into all the details on the latest episode of the And The Writer Is… podcast.

The weekly podcast, with Ross Golan, spotlights acclaimed genre-spanning songwriters who share lengthy discussions of their experience in the music industry and the making of everyone’s favorite anthem on the radio. Hubbard’s podcast episode premiered on Monday (July 10). Some of the previous podcast episodes also include Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, Christina Perri, HARDY, CAM, Sabrina Carpenter, Lin-Manuel Miranda and many other artists.

Hubbard grew up in Monroe, Georgia, and moved to Music City to attend Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Many of his fans will know of his rise to country music stardom in Florida Georgia Line, his duo with fellow singer-songwriter and Belmont alum Brian Kelley, known for hits like “Cruise,” “This Is How We Roll,” “Get Tour Shine On” and many others (in addition to singles Hubbard wrote that other powerhouse country artists recorded, including “Black Tears,” by Jason Aldean). Now, Hubbard is experiencing success with his own work after releasing his debut solo album earlier this year. The 18-track record includes “Dancin’ In The Country,” “5 Foot 9,” “Inside And Out” and other highlights.

Hubbard has tallied 21 No. 1 songs throughout his career, making him “a staple on country music radio,” reads the And The Writer Is… Instagram caption announcing the release of Hubbard’s interview. “Yet, his Southern-bred authenticity is what makes him a real star. He’s never made a project bearing solely his name — telling his story — until releasing his debut solo album on January 27, 2023.

“As a songwriter who has had more than 100 songs recorded by artists including FGL, Jason Aldean, Chris Tomlin, Zac Brown, and Kane Brown, our guest thought he could be happy as a songwriter for other artists,” And The Writer Is… continued. “And he was, but the more he wrote, the more he realized many of the songs were telling his own story, through his music. We’re so happy this songwriter decided to take this courageous leap into a solo career.”

Hubbard spoke about his inspiration to pursue a songwriting career, his success in FGL, the duo's decision to take a “break” to pursue solo work, and more throughout the podcast interview. Find And The Writer Is… on iHeartRadio here.
