Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley teamed up more than a decade ago as Florida Georgia Line, launching massively successful music careers. Although both men have explored their craft individually — and worked their way through some tiffs — along the way, they assured that any talk of them going their separate ways boils down to just rumors.
Hubbard and Kelley gazed through the glass barrier of their new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. Florida Georgia Line: Mix It Up Strong opened on Sunday (February 6), displaying tons of iconic items and mementos that mark milestones throughout Florida Georgia Line’s career. That’s where the duo commented to PEOPLE on the future of Florida Georgia Line, quelling any gossip of a split. Hubbard said: “I think 'taking a break' is the proper term, as opposed to breaking up.” He added later that, “we're sort of using these last 12 shows as a time to celebrate FGL, celebrate the fans, celebrate each other, and then support each other on the next chapter of our musical and creative journey, which is gonna be individually for a while. So we're excited.”
Kelley, who recently announced that he's gearing up for a tour of his own, also said to the outlet: “We're not going our separate ways. We're taking a break from recording our music. We're being artists. We love creating. And so a couple years back, we started writing without each other and trying different writers, and now we're both doing that with our music.”
The new Florida Georgia Line: Mix It Up Strong exhibit — which is on display through January 1, 2023 — reminisces on Hubbard and Kelley skyrocketing to success with “Cruise,” in 2012, which also got a remixed collaboration with Nelly. It was one of many smash cross-genre projects the duo has released, including another collaboration with Bebe Rexha in 2017. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibit delves into all of that and more, and the museum will air a conversation with Hubbard and Kelley as part of its Live at the Hall series along with the exhibit. It will stream on the museum’s YouTube channel, Facebook page and website. Florida Georgia Line celebrated the exhibit opening, saying on social media: “It’s been such an honor seeing our story go up behind glass, and we can’t wait for y’all to see it!”
