About six months after his divorce from Kelsea Ballerini, Morgan Evans is opening up about how he's moving on.
In an interview with Bobby Bones on The Bobby Bones Show earlier this week, the "Kiss Somebody" singer explained how "tough" it was to deal with comments on social media after the split from his wife of nearly five years. "The only thing you can control is you, and how you feel and what you're doing. Thankfully I have good people around to keep reminding me of that and keep me grounded in that way, and I'll always be grateful for that," he said.
After their very public breakup, Evans unleashed all his emotions into a new song, "Over For You," which features lyrics like "How long has it been over for you?" and "How many times did you say you loved me/When it wasn't true?" He said it "felt good" to release that song. "Just be honest, and not try to cover things up," Evans said, adding. "Having gone through a situation like that, seeing that it helps other people going through situations like that, yeah, it's really a big deal."
Evans, who is heading out on the road with Brett Young and Ashley Cooke later this year, wrote on social media at the time of their breakup that "I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not." Ballerini broke the news on her own social media. "This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce. This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end. It’s hard to find the words here…but I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons," she said back in August.
Evans' comments come as Ballerini makes a splash with her new relationship to Outer Banks star Chase Stokes. The two have been spotted at the College Football Playoff National Championship game, at LAX and on a night out in Nashville.
