Dolly Parton fans are gushing over the throwback clip she shared on TikTok, when she appeared on iconic television host David Letterman’s late night talk show. During the interview, Parton revealed that her first celebrity crush was another legendary musician.
“Johnny Cash was my first encounter of what I thought sex appeal was, feeling really drawn to someone. I mean, I saw him on stage and I just felt things that I’d never felt before,” Parton said, as the Late Night with David Letterman audience laughed. “I did! Because, you know, like Elvis… I didn’t know what all the feelings were.”
Letterman, who hosted the show for decades before its run ended in 2015, replied that he understood Parton recognized, “something special, something different about people — well, like yourself, as well — you see it immediately. There’s a magnetism.”
Parton finally arrived on TikTok last month, and has since shared dozens of throwback interviews, performances and more. When the “9 To 5” icon joined TikTok, commenters on the social media platform gushed that “this made my day,” “the TikTok universe is now complete,” and “YESSSSSS I’m blessed to be alive in this dolly tiktok era,” to name a few.
