Dolly Parton compiled some of the biggest “songs that are very near and dear to my heart” on her new Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection, which debuted Friday morning (November 18). The long-awaited project includes 23 of the most beloved songs from the country music legend’s decades-long career.
“Every one of these songs has a special memory behind it for me,” Parton said in a note to her fans when she announced her greatest hits album in September. “I hope that you make some special memories of your own while listening to them. Enjoy the ‘Diamonds & Rhinestones’ album. — Musically yours, Dolly.”
The cross-label anthology features Parton’s iconic duets with Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette, “her delightfully surprising” collaboration with Swedish electro pop dance duo Galantis, featuring Mr. Probz, and beloved solo classics. The album kicks off with “9 To 5” and “Jolene,” and includes “I Will Always Love You,” “Coat Of Many Colors,” “My Tennessee Mountain Home” and other fan-favorites.
Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection releases shortly after Parton’s A Holly Dolly Christmas Deluxe album and her holiday single with Jimmy Fallon, “Almost Too Early For Christmas.” Parton is also gearing up for her star-studded Christmas special, Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas, which is set to air on NBC on Thursday, December 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
