Breland shared a soulful cover of one of Luke Combs’ latest songs, and he said the snippet shared on Instagram on Monday (October 31) is proof that genres of music often blend more than some may think: “I’m telling y’all R&B and Country aren’t that far apart.”
Breland, who previously shared the clip on TikTok, delivered a stunning cover of “The Kind Of Love We Make,” a song that Combs released earlier this year on his 12-track project Growin’ Up, which also included “Doin’ This,” “Tomorrow Me,” “Going, Going, Gone” and other fan-favorites. The reigning iHeartRadio Music Awards Country Artist of the Year — who has shared some impressive covers of his own, including a recently-released spin on Ed Sheeran’s “Dive” — released the album in June, days after he and his wife, Nicole, welcomed their firstborn son, Tex Lawrence.
“Let's get some candles burnin’/ And some records turnin’/ All the lights down low/ Take it nice and slow/ The way your body's movin’/ Keep doin' what you're doin’/ To me all night long/ Writin' our love song/ Girl, I want it, gotta have it/ Let the passion take us to a higher place/ Makin' the kind of love we make”
Breland released his own debut album last month, a 14-track collection called Cross Country. The long-awaited album includes collaborations with Ingrid Andress, Thomas Rhett, Lady A and more, and even includes a ‘90s country- and Shania Twain-inspired anthem (fitting, as Breland gets ready to join the “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” icon on some of her “Queen of Me Tour” dates). Listen to Breland’s spin on Combs’ smash-hit song here:
