Jana Kramer released her latest single on Friday (September 16), and it’s a heartbreak anthem that sends a powerful message to an ex who didn’t treat her right. Kramer insists that “The Nicest Thing” he could’ve done was to never come into her life at all:
“Ohhhh/ The nicest thing you ever could’ve done/ Was just keep walking/ Could’ve stayed two strangers/ Why’d you mess it up with talking/ See my face and you let it go/ Just another name that you’ll never know/ The nicest thing you ever could’ve done/ For me was never said hello oh oh oh/ Hello oh oh oh”
Kramer revealed her next single last month, after teasing two new songs on Instagram: “The Nicest Thing” and “Let It Burn.” She said on Instagram at the time: “Help me pick my new single!!!! What’s it gonna be? The Nicest Thing or Let it Burn?! Wouldn’t be here without your support and I love having you guys be a part of each step of the journey 🤍” Now that the song is out, Kramer hopes “you blast it in the car and sing it out loud because we have all felt that some people in our lives, the ‘nicest thing’ they could have ever done was never said hello.”
“The Nicest Thing” follows Kramer’s last single, “The Story,” an emotional song that she shared has resonated with many others. Kramer reflected in a heartfelt Instagram caption on Thursday (September 15): “Tomorrow my new single comes out but it has me reflecting on the last song I released ‘the story’. That song was incredibly hard for me to write as it’s a situation I never wanted for me or my kids but I’m so glad ‘the story’ touched as many of you single mommas as it did. That song holds such a special place in my heart as my 2 babies are my entire world. And if you’re in that spot now, just know we are all going to have a beautiful story and it’s going to turn out exactly as God has planned it to💓. Your story is and will be beautiful and full of love.”
