Lainey Wilson is about to kick off the weekend with a new song on Friday (August 12), and she seemingly hinted at a new album when she said “big news” was coming. Wilson shared a snippet of the soon-to-release song, “Watermelon Moonshine,” on her social media channels on Wednesday (August 10).
That’s when she also confirmed that she has “some more big news to share with y’all,” and presented “a little hint,” spotlighting a comment from a fan asking about whether a new album was on the way. Wilson started teasing the single last week, observing National Watermelon Day by sharing a clip mixing watermelon moonshine in a jar, and labeling the lid with the song’s release date. Days ago, Wilson confirmed that “Watermelon Moonshine” would be her next single, teasing “more big news” coming at the same time.
“Watermelon Moonshine” mark s Wilson’s latest single since she released “Heart Like A Truck” earlier this year. The reigning iHeartRadio Music Awards Best New Country Artist explained that “Heart Like A Truck” is a song about overcoming challenges and moving forward: “But when you get through it, you’re stronger and better for it on the other side. Nothing can hold me back from moving forward and finding a way to enjoy life, no matter what. I hope this song reminds y’all of that.”
Wilson is a previous iHeartRadio “On The Verge” artist, released her debut album last year. Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’ includes Wilson’s breakout hit, “Things A Man Oughta Know,” on the 12-track project, along with the title track, the Dolly Parton-inspired “WWDD” and others.
