As Hunter Hayes looks forward to his next era, the singer-songwriter is breaking down every last detail of his latest single — and he revealed something you might have missed.
Hayes released “Missing You” on July 8, which kicked off “the beginning of a new era,” Hayes said at the time. “It’s part of a new album, with a new sound, and a new creative spirit that I can’t wait for you to hear more from!”
“Up all night/ Missing you missing me/ I stay high/ Chase it with a memory/ So good at make believe/ I think it’s good for me/ And I can’t stop/ Missing you missing me.”
Since then, Hayes has shared additional details about his music on his social media channels, including details about his songwriting process and different sounds he used to bring the song together.
“Now that my new single, ‘Missing You,’ is out, I wanted to highlight a couple things, which you’re probably not gonna hear in the finished product, but I’m really proud of them. One thing for instance: there’s a ukulele on almost every song on this album. They don’t always sound like a ukulele, and ‘Missing You’ is a great example,” Hayes explained on TikTok, demonstrating how the ukulele sound was edited. He jokingly dubbed it, “the ‘Missing Uke’ trick.” Watch it here:
