“The wait is over” …It’s officially the start of a new era for Hunter Hayes, who released his long-awaited new single and accompanying music video on Friday (July 8) after drumming up anticipation for week: “Up all night/ Missing you missing me/ I stay high/ Chase it with a memory/ So good at make believe/ I think it’s good for me/ And I can’t stop/ Missing you missing me.”
“Missing You” marks “the beginning of a new era and I’m so happy we’re here!” Hayes wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption, thanking his team and celebrating his latest release. “It’s part of a new album, with a new sound, and a new creative spirit that I can’t wait for you to hear more from!”
Before dropping the new song, Hayes confirmed that the “beginning of a new era” was coming, following a few teasers on his social media channels that spurred excitement among fans. Last month, Hayes shared a mysterious post that hinted at “Missing You” releasing soon. The brief clip showed a payphone, which, when dialed, said: “We’re sorry. The song you’re trying to listen to is not yet released. Please try again later.” Fans who called the number got to hear a brief sneak peek of “Missing You.”
Hayes’ latest single follows his complete Wild Blue album, a 16-track collection that he released in October of 2021.
