Tyler Hubbard leans on his faith on the latest song to release from his debut solo project. The country singer-songwriter remembered “Way Home” as one of the first ones he wrote after opting to pursue his album. Hubbard wrote the song with Corey Crowder and Canaan Smith. It’s one that he explained, “is a traditional country song that can be heard in a church and a honky-tonk.”

“Well, they say that life is a highway/ And I’ve put some miles on mine/ More than one time, I took the wrong two-lane/ Just lettin’ my horses run wild/ Yeah, I got lost (yeah, I got lost)/ Until I got found (until I got found)/ Oh, and now that it’s well with my soul/ I just ride in the seat next to Jesus/ ‘Cause I know He knows the way home”

“For me, it’s a reflection on where I’ve been, where I am now, and where I want to be,” Hubbard shared on his social media channels as he introduced the song on Friday morning (July 15). “As hard as it is sometimes, I find peace in remembering who is really in the driver’s seat of this life, and it’s not me. I hope you guys love this song and know me even better after hearing it.”

“Way Home” follows previously-released “35’s” and “5 Foot 9,” both of which Hubbard said hold special meaning. “35’s” has become ““an anthem in my home,” and in its video, Hubbard gets to unearth a time capsule he buried as a child. In it, he finds sentimental items, including his Bible, family photos, a note to himself and more. Before that, Hubbard shared his first solo single, “5 Foot 9,” a tribute to his wife, Hayley. Hubbard said at the time: “This is just the beginning, and I’m so excited to share my songs, my story and my journey with you guys.”

Hubbard is getting ready to join Keith Urban on Urban’s headlining tour. The “Way Home” singer will join the series of concerts in the fall. Urban is already on tour with special guest Ingrid Andress, and he was “very, very excited” to add Hubbard to the lineup. Listen to Hubbard’s latest song here:
