Ingrid Andress dropped a major “SURPRISE” on Wednesday (June 15)…

Andress previously announced that she would release a new song and music video, but she sweetened the deal with new details about her upcoming sophomore album, Good Person. The “More Hearts Than Mine” singer shared that her next album is set to release on August 26, and included the first look at the track list when she posted the album cover on Instagram.

That announcement comes the same day Andress debuted her latest music video, “Pain,” which she explained during a Q&A session ahead of the premiere serves as the album’s “pivot point.” It’s where Good Person switches from darker struggles to seeing a brighter perspective. “wrote this song ['Pain'] when i was going thru some major life changes that were extremely difficult. but sometimes you just gotta go head first into the uncomfortable feelings and soak it all in to get to the other, brighter side. I love you and ur gonna get thru it,” Andress shared on Twitter.

Andress — who co-produced the project and sought to push herself as a producer and as a songwriter — explained that each song is “super personal,” telling a story of something she’s been through. Listeners will go on a journey as they listen from the album from start to finish, as Andress noted that she “wanted the track list to tell a story.”

Andress previously released “Seeing Someone Else,” a song that captures changing over time, and seeing a relationship crumble when a partner doesn’t recognize that growth.

“we all grow and change, but not everyone wants us to,” Andress shared on Instagram when she introduced the song last month. “some people want to keep you exactly where you are for as long as possible, even if it’s hurting you. sometimes you don’t even realize it’s happening. but then one day you wake up and decide the person they want you to be isn’t you anymore, so you pack your s*** and break free from their grip. I hope this song makes you feel as liberated as I felt when writing it 🖤✋🏼”

Before that, the former iHeartCountry On The Verge artist debuted “Good Person,” a song that seeks to define what the term means. Andress let out a big sigh as she explained her inspiration behind the song. She said, in part: “I’ve tried to be a good person my entire life. You find out that you make mistakes even though you are trying not to, but they’re just inevitable. And it’s always so interesting because when people are referring to somebody as a ‘good person,’ it’s always for a different reason, and it’s based on the values they have in their life. …Some of us strive to be the best versions of ourselves because we’re constantly growing and changing. I think we’re all gonna have our own definitions of it forever.”
