Brett Young Reveals Whether He Would Launch His Own Podcast

Brett Young is known for his soulful country voice, but he won’t be using his voice for a podcast any time soon. The “You Didn’t” singer admitted he’s “surprised” fans still love his songs, so he second-guesses whether he could rationalize asking them to listen to him speak on a podcast, despite the booming popularity of the audio shows. Young added that he wouldn’t be sure of where to start, and credits other podcast hosts for their skills. He said in a statement recently shared by his record label (with a laugh at the end):

“Honestly, I’m surprised people are still listenin’ to my music. I don’t think I could feel justified asking ‘em to listen for an hour a week to something else I have an opinion about. If I were to do a podcast, I wouldn’t even know where to start, because unless somebody’s leading it and asking me the questions, you know, that’s not a skill set I have. So, I have mad respect for people that do that, that have enough to say to fill that much time all the time. Especially with two young kids now, I value my silence.“

Though Young doesn’t plan to launch his own podcast any time soon, he has tons of hit songs that his fans know and love. One of his latest No. 1 hits, for example, is one that Young credits as the “happiest accident in the world,” and “one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.” That song is “Lady,” the sweet song that serves as a tribute to Young’s wife and the couple’s firstborn daughter, before she was born. When their second daughter followed, Young made sure she knew, “the women in your life are super heroes and you’re the luckiest lady alive.”
