Chase Rice posted a childhood photo with a heartfelt message as he remembered his late father. Rice, 36, shared that he list his dad 14 years ago on Wednesday (May 18). He wrote in his Instagram caption:
“Lost my dad 14 years ago today. Never got a chance to drink a beer with him or take him on man to man, which is probably good cause he would have whipped my a**. He was one of the good ones. And he’s all over this next album, I dove into stuff that’s affected me for years but never talked about. Can’t wait for him to hear it, and y’all. Love you dad.”
Rice noted tributes to his dad on his upcoming album, and has nodded to him in other endeavors, including his bar in Cleveland, Ohio. The country artist explained that he opted to take a piece of Tennessee to the Buckeye State — which has “always been a very special place to me” — because that’s where his dad is from. He said when he announced plans for Welcome To The Farm, which opened earlier this year: “Not only is Ohio special to me as an artist and because of my dad’s connection to the area, but Cleveland itself is also a really inspiring city as a musician. It’s awesome to know that we’ll be just a mile down the road from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which is home to people like The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, Tom Petty and so many more who have all had a huge impact on my career.”
