Carrie Underwood, Mickey Guyton, Black Pumas and Old Dominion will join the star-studded lineup of powerhouse artists at the 2022 CMT Music Awards. CMT revealed additional artists on Monday morning (April 4). The highly-anticipated fan-voted awards show is set for next Monday evening, April 11.
Previously-announced performers include Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, Carly Pearce, Cole Swindell with Lainey Wilson and Keith Urban. Ballerini is also set to return as a co-host the show, this time with Captain America actor Anthony Mackie. Although Luke Combs was originally set to perform during the show, he backed out after testing positive for COVID-19. Six of “country music’s brightest up and coming stars” are also set to perform: Priscilla Block, BRELAND, Jessie James Decker, Parker McCollum, Elvie Shane and Caitlyn Smith.
CMT also revealed on Monday that fan votes have narrowed down the Video of the Year category from 12 to six:
- Jason Aldean & Carrie Underwood – “If I Didn’t Love You”
- Kane Brown – “One Mississippi”
- Kelsea Ballerini feat. Kenny Chesney – ‘half of my hometown”
- Luke Combs – “Forever After All”
- Cody Johnson – “Til You Can’t”
- Cole Swindell & Lainey Wilson – “Never Say Never”
The 2022 CMT Music Awards will air on April 11 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the CBS Television Network and stream on Paramount+, hosted live from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium and other locations around the city. CMT will also air an extended cut of the show with an additional 30 minutes of performances and other bonus content on April 15. See the full list of nominees here.
