Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins have long been considered couple goals… But the country superstar caught his wife’s admission that she didn’t know about his upcoming album.
Rhett is hearing up to release Where We Started on April 1, marking the first of two albums he’s set to release this year. So far, he’s shared several songs on the 15-track project, including “Church Boots,” “Angels,” “Slow Down Summer,” “Us Someday,” and, most recently, “Death Row,” a collaboration with Russell Dickerson and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard. After sharing Where We Started, Rhett will release Country Again: Side B later this year, following his Country Again: Side A album that debuted in 2021.
Despite all the hype about Rhett’s upcoming albums, Akins was unaware of her husbands’ soon-to-release endeavor. “You didn’t know that I was coming out with another album?” Rhett asks her in a video he shared on his Instagram story and on TikTok on Wednesday (March 9). “No!” Akins replied with a laugh.
“Are you serious?” Rhett asks, and Akins responds, still laughing at the revelation as she continues painting her toenails: “I knew you had Side A and Side B because that made sense. When you said you’re coming out with this middle one, it was shocking to me.”
Akins did offer a reason for not keeping tabs on Rhett’s latest albums: “My life revolves around your children!” Rhett and Akins are parents to Willa Gray (6), Ada James (4), Lennon Love (2) and Lillie Carolina, who was born in November.
