George Birge recently reflected on “the opportunity of a lifetime,” touring with Tattoos hitmaker Brantley Gilbert. Austin, Texas-born country star Birge spoke about the experience with brothers and podcast hosting duo Dan and Reid Isbell on a recent episode of God’s Country.

The “Mind On You” artist said Gilbert took a smoke break in the middle of his set during a sold-out show. Birge said Gilbert glanced at the massive audience, looked at Birge and said, “pretty f***in’ cool, huh?” The Isbell brothers laughed as they heard the story, and Gilbert, who previously appeared on the podcast, wrote in the comments that it “was a rad moment to share brother.”

Throughout the episode, Birge and the Isbell brothers “dive in head first to the landscape of where they think the drones are coming from and share some stories that make you think drones aren't all bad. George dives in on what it was like growing up on Lake Austin, how harvesting his first buck led to him getting lost and hitchhiking home, and what led him to Nashville. He shares his best ‘starving artist’ story and his GRAVORITE will have you ready to throw down instantly,” per the episode’s description. Find it on iHeartRadio here:

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”
