Jana Kramer opened up about mom-shaming comments she receives in her DMs, and her fiancé has entered the chat.
Allan Russell offered support to his wife-to-be in the comments on her Instagram post on Monday afternoon (March 11). Kramer held a conversation about “mom guilt” on the latest episode of her podcast, Whine Down with Jana Kramer, which included Russell along with co-hosts Kathryn Woodward and Kristen Brust. The country artist, actress, author and podcast host shared a DM that an Instagram user mistakenly sent to her rather than forwarding to a friend. That Instagram user wondered whether Kramer regrets welcoming Roman, her third child and first with Russell, whom the commenter alleged is never with the baby. Roman James Russell arrived in November, joining Russell’s teen son from a previous relationship and Kramer’s two children from her previous marriage, Jolie, 8, and Jace, 5.
“Now, this is our first getaway, right? We’re in Mexico. I’m trying to get back sooner to get back to the baby. and then I get another one, another comment, ‘when do you ever see your baby,’ when I was taking Jolie and Jace to Chicago for that one day. …and then I just knew it. I knew if I looked in my DMs I would get a comment about us being in New York,” Kramer shared on Whine Down with Jana Kramer, which they recorded in New York City, where she said “yes” to her wedding dress. “It was ‘who’s with the baby? Why are you never with him?’ It goes to the thing where, I don’t think a man would ever get DMs about why they’re working or why they’re never with the baby.”
Kramer further opened up about the conversation about mom guilt and mom shaming in a caption on Instagram. She posted a photo with the script of a movie as she expressed her excitement for the role she landed.
“I got offered a movie that I’m so excited to be in!! This role and script will be challenging but it’s one I’m ready for,” Kramer wrote. “Today on [Whine Down with Jana Kramer] I talked about how I’ve received comments like ‘where’s the baby’, ‘who’s with the baby’ when I’m working or went away for 3 nights…. I expressed why it upset me and ultimately it’s because I feel shame leaving too…. The last thing us moms need are other women/moms shaming us when we already feel the mom guilt. We are already hard enough on ourselves. We don’t need any other peoples opinions/judgment or hate. Listen to this weeks podcast for more context. And though I’ll be working 12-14 hour days I’ll still be a damn good mom during this time and baby and all will be loved because moms, we can do it all!!!!!!!! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise….especially yourself. Side note…here’s two things I can say about the movie. It’s a true story…..and it’s not Christmas 😉”
That’s where Russell wrote a comment in support of Kramer and her balance of work and motherhood.
“You’re an incredible woman and mother and you are adored babe,” Russell commented. He added the hashtag: “F**k The Opinion Of Pathetic Karens.”
Kramer shared a screenshot of that comment on her Instagram story, writing, “I love it when my fiancé enters the comments.” She also clarified that “this isn’t a diss to any actual people named Karen (since we have gotten a few upset Karens). Much love to the good Karens and love to the mean ones too honestly.”
During the latest episode of Whine Down, Kramer also posed a question to Woodward and Brust — “Do you think the fiancé should have ANY input on the dress??” — celebrity hall passes, Kramer’s thoughts on her fiancé’s new hobby and more. Find Whine Down with Jana Kramer on iHeartRadio here.
