Dierks Bentley teases his Twitter followers with a cryptic message…
“New song coming this week? Maybe,” Bentley wrote in a tweet on Tuesday evening (January 10). “Big announcement coming this week? Maybe.”
Bentley hasn’t shed any more light on his tweet as of publication time on Wednesday morning (January 11), but Twitter users were eager to know more. One replied that “this is the best news I’ve heard all year,” and others begged for a new song and album release date. Some cast other guesses, including that Bentley could be releasing a song titled “Maybe.”
The mysterious tweet comes as Bentley has been teasing his next era of music. In summer 2022, the award-winning singer-songwriter released “Gold,” a single that serves as a tribute to finding gratitude. “Gold” set the stage for Bentley’s 10th LP, a project that’s set to release early this year, following “an especially careful production process, one helmed by the artist himself for the first time,” reads a previously-issued press release.
Bentley premiered the “Gold” music video in October, focusing on “lots of special moments to cherish even in the middle of the tough stuff.” The next month, Bentley released the “bluegrass super jam,” “High Note,” which includes Billy Strings, Charlie Worsham, Jerry Douglas on dobro, Sam Bush on mandolin and guitar star Bryan Sutton. Bentley recalled that he was “totally blown away” the first time he saw Strings play.
“2020 was a chance for me to give my guitar and the road a little rest. It gave me the chance to spend a lot more time adventuring outdoors with family and friends, but also alone. It also gave me time to reset and rekindle my love of Country music and a lot of the types of songs and sounds that I fell in love with when I first got to Nashville,” Bentley said in a statement when he released “Gold.” “I think you’ll hear that in this first track, but it carries across the whole album.”
