Kenny Chesney and Old Dominion proved they know how to throw a party when they premiered the music video for their collaboration, “Beer With My Friends.” The video is packed with some of the best moments from Chesney’s headlining “Here And Now Tour” over the summer, which included Old Dominion (along with Carly Pearce and Dan + Shay).
“I’m here to have some beer with my friends at an Old Dominion pop-up show,” Chesney said to kick off the video. “It’s gonna be rockin’.” That’s when the music video transitions into clips from concerts throughout the stadium tour, including Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium, Philadelphia’s Lincoln FinancialField and tons of other tour stops.
“Right now I really need a beer with my friends/ Pop a top or two and talk about way back when/ With some folks that seen me through thick and thin/ Start seeing life through a rose-colored neon lens/ We're gonna get that old jukebox working hard/ Before it's over I'll know everybody in this bar/ It's been too long no matter how long it's been/ Right now I really need a beer with my friends.”
Chesney and Old Dominion released “Beer With My Friends” in August, a party anthem that serves as a tribute to “hitting that local bar with your friends,” Chesney said at the time. “That’s what this whole [‘Here And Now’ Tour] has felt like... every city, every face, every song. It’s so much more than a show or a concert. It’s really letting go, and I wanted to capture that in a song. [‘Beer With My Friends’] is all of it.”
Chesney added on Thursday (October 6) that the song “represents how awesome getting back out to play live has been… the music, the moments, every member of [No Shoes Nation]. And the new music video captures that heart and spirit.”
