Earlier this year, Midland joined forces with Jon Pardi to deliver a “classic heartbreak drinking song,” bringing it to life with a bowling-themed music video. Now, the trio is giving fans a look behind the scenes.
“It was a longneck night of bowling and heartbreak beers in Nashville on the set of our music video for, Longneck Way To Go ft. [Jon Pardi], Midland reflected in a tweet on Wednesday (July 13). The band also explains that the idea for the music video stemmed from a real-life experience on tour.
“There’s two teams: Midland and Jon Pardi’s team. ...Actually, this happened once on tour, and Jon offered $500 to the winner,” bandmate Cameron Duddy recalled. “And Midland beat Jon’s team in real life, so this is a re-creation of that.”
The song appears on The Last Resort: Greetings From, the 12-track project that Midland released in May. It was perfect for listeners to “check in, grab a cold one, and leave your worries at the door.” See the track list here:
