Carrie Underwood is hitting the road! The powerhouse country artist announced on her social media channels on Monday morning (May 16): “I am so excited to announce that I will officially be hitting the road for THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR! …LET’S GOO! 💜💎”
Underwood’s tour comes as fans eagerly await the release of her upcoming album, Denim & Rhinestones. The 12-track project is one that Underwood promises will “cover a lot of ground.” She previously explained in the album’s trailer: “We have a lot of songs that could be kind of considered ‘throwback’ type songs, but they sound so super fresh. These are just influences that are in me and work their way out, and I just decided this time not to get in my way. I feel like this one ended up being a bigger reflection of me as a person, as an artist. I grew up listening to so many different kinds of music. I feel like that is extremely evident in this body of work.”
Denim & Rhinestones is Underwood’s first country album in four years. Though she’s kept busy with some singles and collaborations — including “If I Didn’t Love You” with Jason Aldean, “Stretchy Pants” and “Only Us,” a duet with Dan + Shay for the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack — Underwood hasn’t released a country album since Cry Pretty in 2018. She released her holiday album, My Gift, in 2020 with a special edition in 2021, and My Savior, her debut gospel album last year.
So far, Underwood has released “Ghost Story” — along with a chilling music video — “Crazy Angels” and the title track of her new collection. The full album is set to release on June 10. Underwood’s “Denim & Rhinestones Tour” comes at the heels of her jaw-dropping Las Vegas Residency, REFLECTION, hosted at Resorts World Theater.
The “Denim & Rhinestones Tour,” with special guest Jimmie Allen, includes dates in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023, Underwood's website shows. The 43-city trek kicks off in October. Allen said when he shared the news on his own social media channels: “It’s gonna be lit 🔥. For sure there will be a lot Rhinestones 💎♠️”
Underwood said in a statement that she’s “thrilled” to tour again: “I’m having such an amazing time with my Las Vegas residency and look forward to continuing that next year after the tour. I’m excited to bring the new music of Denim & Rhinestones to life on tour, as well as put new spins on familiar favorites. We’ve been working hard already preparing an amazing show, and I can’t wait to see everyone on the road!”
