These Country Artists Went Through Divorces, Breakups In 2025

Several artists announced breakups or divorces (or finalized divorces) in 2025, and some of them arrived as a shock to many fans.

Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires finalized their divorce in March 2025, more than a year after filing. Isbell filed for the divorce in December 2023. The two singer-songwriters, ages 46 and 43, respectively, were married for more than a decade. they share one child together.

Country artists Jay Allen and Kylie Morgan went their separate ways earlier this year. They were married for more than two years at the time of their split. Allen, who previously competed on The Voice, confirmed the divorce in a statement on Instagram in late May: “It’s with peace in my heart that I feel it’s time to share this
 Kylie and I separated 6 months ago and made the decision to get divorced.”

Nicole Kidman filed to divorce country star Keith Urban shortly after news broke of their separation. Kidman, 58, and Urban, 58, were married for nearly two decades. They met at a gala in 2005 in Los Angeles, California, and got married the following year in Sydney, Australia. Kidman and Urban share daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

F-1 Trillion artist Post Malone split up with girlfriend Christy Lee around June 2025. The singer-songwriter split up with his ex-fiancée in late 2024, and he was first spotted with Lee earlier in the year. They were seen together on several occasions, including at dinner in Rome and shopping in Paris.

News broke of Kelsea Ballerini’s breakup with actor Chase Stokes in September, shortly after she celebrated her 32nd birthday. The singer-songwriter and the Outer Banks actor started dating in January 2023. Though there was some speculation about Ballerini’s relationship status with Stokes, she said on her Instagram story earlier this month, “I’m trying to make my personal life personal for now. Unless it comes from me, it’s not from me. And that is really important in protecting my peace right now.”

Canadian country artist Brett Kissel and his wife, Cecilia Kissel, announced in a joint statement that “we have made the decision to end our marriage of almost 15 years.” They’d realized “that we are no longer suited to be married to one another,” following a year and a half of quiet separation, they confirmed. Brett and Cecilia are parents to four young children. They said they look forward to co-parenting and will remain friends.
