Cody Johnson is honoring our U.S. Military Veterans with a special one-hour iHeartCountry takeover on all country stations across the nation.

The powerhouse country star’s special takeover arrives after some of his fellow artists — including Brothers Osborne, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Parker McCollum — have celebrated veterans and their service in the days leading up to Veteran’s Day on Tuesday (November 11).

Over the years, country stars have released songs that have become instant classics and pay special tributes to veterans, including Justin Moore’s “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home,” Johnson’s “The Fall,” Toby Keith’s “Courtesy Of The Red, White and Blue,” Tim McGraw’s “If You’re Reading This,” Bentley’s “I Hold On,” Alan Jackson’s “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning),” and more. On Friday (November 7), Johnson released the studio version of “Traveling Soldier,” a fan favorite and one of his most requested songs.

“It’s been three years since we released an acoustic cover of ‘Travelin’ Soldier.’ The fans responded so enthusiastically and began requesting it during our live shows so it’s remained on the set list,” the 59th CMA Awards nominee said in a statement. “I had no idea that it was going to give me the opportunity to hear, see, and bring words to y’all’s stories. I knew at some point, when the time felt right, we needed to record it in the studio. And that time is now COJO Nation!”

Johnson is hosting the one-hour iHeartCountry Artist Takeover on iHeartRadio’s mainstream and new country stations nationwide from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. local time on Veteran’s Day. Listeners can tune in by turning up the radio or by using the free iHeartRadio app.
