Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins shared a sweet video of the moment Akins announced to the family that she’s pregnant with Baby No. 5.
Akins propped her phone up to record the announcement and called her oldest daughter into the room. Akins and Rhett are parents to Willa Gray (10), Ada James (8), Lennon Love (5) and Lillie Carolina (3). When Rhett and all four daughters joined Akins, she asked, “remember the present that we got for daddy? It did not come in, but something else did.”
“You’re pregnant!” Willa Gray exclaimed as Akins revealed her pregnancy test. The family smiled and laughed as they celebrated, and the girls began asking questions, including whether Baby No. 5 is a girl or a boy (Rhett and Akins have not shared a gender reveal as of publication time). Rhett reacted, “I told you! I told you!”
Rhett said he “saw that phone propped up from a mile away and knew Laur was up to something,” he wrote in his caption on Instagram when he shared the clip on Wednesday (November 5).
Rhett and Akins publicly announced the pregnancy in August. The country star updated the lyrics of his 2017 single, “Life Changes,” to share that Baby No. 5 is on the way: “Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad/ A big wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had/ Now Lauren’s showing, got one on the way/ That’s five under 10, hey, what can I say?/ Yeah, life changes/ You wake up, ain’t nothin’ the same and life changes.”
