Jana Kramer opened up about how she deals with “self-criticism” and “negative self-talk” as she gets ready for the premiere of her new holiday romance, The Christmas Ring.

Kramer stars in the soon-to-debut movie alongside Benjamin Hollingsworth, Kelsey Grammer and more. Tyler Russell directed the film adaptation of author Karen Kingsbury’s novel by the same title, which published on October 21. The Christmas Ring is about “a military widow (who) falls in love while searching for her lost family Christmas Ring, an heirloom that has been in the family since D-Day,” per IMDb.

“I’m very excited,” Kramer said about The Christmas Ring’s premiere in a new episode of Whine Down with Jana Kramer on Monday (November 3). However, she admitted she often “will talk down to myself,” and “I’m my loudest hater. …We are our own critics.” Kramer’s friends and co-hosts, Kristen Brust and Kathryn Woodard, offered their encouragement. Kramer, who spoke about how she shifts her perspective, said the family-friendly Christmas movie “is so great. It’s so cute and special, and I want everyone to go see it in theaters.”

Kramer recently hosted Kingsbury on an episode of Whine Down. Together, they discussed how Kramer took on the lead role in the film, why Kingsbury opted to write the screenplay before writing the book, Kingsbury’s journey from writing about sports and true crime to Christmas, and more.
