Carly Pearce shared an unforgettable full circle moment with fellow country star Luke Combs during a historic Grand Ole Opry performance over the weekend.
Pearce noted that “many of you don’t know that I wrote ‘I Hope You’re Happy Now’ with [Luke Combs],” she wrote in a caption on Instagram. The hummingbird artist released the powerful duet in 2020 with Lee Brice, and included the collaboration on her self titled sophomore record that year. Brice also included it on his 15-track studio album, Hey World. Pearce wrote the song with Combs, plus songwriters Randy Ennis Schlappi and Jonathan Singleton.
Combs surprised the audience when he joined Pearce on stage at the Opry’s first-ever live international broadcast. The show took place as part of the Opry’s 100th anniversary celebration throughout 2025. Grand Ole Opry: Live in London took place at Royal Albert Hall on Friday (September 26). The sold-out, one-night-only event included Opry members Pearce, Combs, Ashley McBryde, Darius Rucker and Marty Stuart, plus UK artists Mumford & Sons and Breabach, per a press release issued Friday evening. Each artist performed while standing on a legendary circle of wood from the Ryman Auditorium’s stage. The Ryman Auditorium was home to the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974, until the Opry relocated to its larger home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Pearce said the Grand Ole Opry: Live in London show was the first time she and Combs sang “I Hope You’re Happy Now” together since writing it six years ago. She thanked Combs for the “full circle moment.” Combs’ wife, Nicole Combs, who recently announced she’s pregnant with Baby No. 3, added in the comments that it’s “truly” a full circle moment, nodding to the iconic circle on stage.
