Ashley Cooke insists she wasnāt trying to āstart dramaā when she accidentally dropped āthe F wordā in front of her boyfriendās family ā but not the āF wordā most listeners probably expect.
Rather than cursing, however, Cooke admits she said āIād probably spend forever with you,ā in the cleverly-written lyrics, and āthe early declaration causes her to cringe,ā notes a press release from her record label.. The Academy of Country Music New Female Artist of the Year nominee debuted āthe f wordāĀ on Friday (April 18).
āThis song immediately caught my attention from the title,āĀ Cooke said a statement of the ballad written by Lori McKenna, Gordie Sampson and Emily Weisband. āIt's brilliantly written and resonates with anĀ experience I had in a past relationshipā¦The song starts with 'I try not to swear,' which cracks me up because I have the mouth of a sailor, often using manyĀ f-words.ā
Cooke announced the release date of āthe f wordā ā and delivered the first-ever live performance for the crowd of 20,000 ā when she opened for powerhouse singer-songwriter Kane Brown last week at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The āyour placeā star also performed āthe f wordā earlier this year at the Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Music City, notes the release.
Cooke said on Friday, āthis song takes me back to the first time I met a guyās mom and accidentally word vomited that weād get married š« itās for the fall fasters, the lovers, the hopeless romantics.. and itās now all yours.ā
