Ella Langley considers how her life could’ve turned out differently if it weren’t for her free-spirited lifestyle in her ā€œweren’t for the windā€ music video. The cinematic storytelling visual premiered on Tuesday (March 25).

Langley’s video arrives about a week after she posted a sneak peek that stirred engagement rumors. Eagle-eyed Instagram commenters pointed out the stunning ring Langley wore as she played her guitar; however, the Country Music Association Award winner clarified she’s ā€œmarried to my job.ā€

ā€œMaybe that plane wouldn’t ever take off/ Maybe that dust wouldn’t fly off the drive/ Maybe that tumbleweed and me wouldn’t leave every other sunrise/ Maybe I’d settle down dig in some roots/ Find me a farmhouse find me you/ Maybe I wouldn’t be already gone again/ If it weren’t for the windā€

The video, directed by Langley and Wales Toney, opens with the quote, ā€œgrowing out of the person you were, into the person you are now.ā€ Langley’s love interest pops the question early in the music video, and the bride-to-be begins planning the wedding with her fiancĆ©. By the end of the story, however, the trailblazing singer-songwriter makes a discovery that prompts her to leave the engagement ring behind and chase her dreams instead.

Langley’s ā€œweren’t for the windā€ appeared on still hungover, the 19-track deluxe edition of the Alabama-born country star’s debut album. The record also includes ā€œhungover,ā€ ā€œbetter be tough,ā€ ā€œyou look like you love meā€ with Riley Green, and more. ā€œWeren’t for the windā€ was the first track to release from the extended album.
