Carly Pearce unveiled a few more glimpses into her healing journey as she officially closes a chapter on Friday (March 14).

The Grammy-winning country star debuted hummingbird: no rain, no flowers, the deluxe edition of the fourth studio record that Pearce co-produced with longtime collaborators Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. The extended edition offers three new ballads and two live renditions of previously-released songs on the now 19-track version of Pearce’s hummingbird era. Pearce’s latest additions to hummingbird — “if looks could kill,” “heart first” and “no rain,” plus the live performances of “oklahoma” and “things i don’t chase” — continue to demonstrate her signature authentic storytelling and sharp-witted, emotional lyrics that resonate deeply with listeners around the globe.

“I felt like there was a little more left to the story before we closed this chapter. I hope these three new songs give life to wherever you are on your journey,” Pearce said as she posted a few photos from the recording studio on Instagram. “This is extra special for me because my road band got to bring these songs to life in the studio with me for the first time & absolutely crushed it,” she wrote, adding that she’s feeling “so grateful” as the deluxe edition made its debut. Pearce invited fans to ask questions when she goes live on Instagram at 5:15 p.m. CT to celebrate hummingbird: no rain, no flowers’ release.

“What I hope that fans get out of this entire chapter in my story is that you can go through hard things and be better for them, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Pearce added in a statement via her record label. “Getting to play some of these new songs live on the road has shown me that we are all going through the same things in life and we all need to feel sunshine after the storm.”

Pearce released “no rain” when she announced the deluxe album last month. She said at that time that there was more to her healing story after 29: Written in Stone, the record Pearce released after going through a divorce. The album included “Next Girl,” “What He Didn’t Do,” “Dear Miss Loretta” (a nod to Loretta Lynn, featuring Patty Loveless), Grammy-winning duet “Never Wanted To be That Girl” with Ashley McBryde, and more. Pearce said that “‘hummingbird’ was my healing journey after ‘29.’ I felt like there were a few more songs to be shared before I close this chapter.”

“I have been working so hard on this album for the last few years, and it just feels awesome to finally have it out to the world and to see the way that people are loving it,” Pearce said of hummingbird in a previous interview with iHeartCountry. “I think I had a bigger voice and a bigger presence in not only the songwriting this round, but just in the production, and I really got to have a big hands-on part in how every single song sounded. …I feel like they [McAnally and Osborne] really understand me as an artist, and so, getting to go back into the studio this time around with them was just really awesome. We knew what we wanted to do.”

Pearce’s hummingbird: no rain, no flowers arrives as she continues her headlining world tour, which runs through May 16 with a finale performance at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
