Carly Pearce powered through a performance on her world tour despite coming down with the flu.
Pearce took the stage on Monday evening (February 24) in Manchester, UK, shortly after sharing a health update on Instagram. The hummingbird star said âthe last few days I have been battling feeling sick but yesterday the flu hit me right in the face.â It happened amid âsome of the biggest sold out shows of my career,â Pearce said; however, she pledged to âgive (audiences) EVERYTHING I haveâ during her final four shows abroad. Sheâll return to the U.S. for additional world tour dates next month.
âI have the flu,â Pearce said as she addressed the Manchester crowd in a concertgoerâs video shared by a fan account for Pearce. âBut I will tell you, the fact that Iâm even up here versus what yesterday looked like is a freaking miracle, so I can assure you of one thing. Our show looks a little different tonight, but I swear to God Iâll give you every single ounce of everything that I have tonight. And if these songs sound a little lower than my records, itâs because they are. So youâre getting a little bit of âCarl Pearceâ tonight, OK? So that just means I need you guys to sing a little bit more with me, alright?â
The fan account, Carly Pearce Connect, said in a separate post that they âwould truly have NO IDEAâ the singer-songwriter is under the weather. Throughout the show, Pearce delivered renditions of her career-spanning hits, including âNext Girl,â âCountry Music Made Me Do It,â âTruck On Fire,â âMy Place,â âEvery Little Thing,â âStill Blue,â â29,â âNever Wanted To Be That Girlâ and more. The set list also included âno rain,â the first track to release from Pearceâs upcoming deluxe album.Â
Pearce announced the deluxe edition of her latest studio album, hummingbird, on Friday (February 21). She said when she made her announcement that ââhummingbirdâ was my healing journey after â29.â I felt like there were a few more songs to be shared before I close this chapter.â The 19-track deluxe album, hummingbird: no rain, no flowers, will release on March 14.
Pearce said on her Instagram story on Tuesday morning (February 25) that sheâs in Glasgow and âresting upâ before taking the stage. Next, sheâll perform on Wednesday (February 26) in Belfast, UK, and on Friday (February 28) in Dublin, Ireland. See her list of tour dates here.
