Tim McGraw shared a clip of his nephew, rising singer-songwriter Timothy Wayne, covering a classic ballad by Country Music Hall of Fame members, Alabama.

McGraw shared his nephew’s rendition of “Lady Down on Love,” which made its debut in the late 1970s. Commenters applauded Wayne’s voice as they listened to the cover. Wayne posted the same rendition on his own Instagram account on Monday (January 27). He recently recorded it at Texas Club, a live music venue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Wayne’s most recent release is his cover of “Louisiana Saturday Night,” by Mel McDaniel in the 1980s. Wayne, a Louisiana State University student who joined McGraw on select dates of his 2024 tour, said in a statement via his record label when the single arrived last month: “I’ve come to hear ‘Louisiana Saturday Night’ quite a lot at LSU football games. Everybody screaming every word gets you pumped up for a football game. Hearing it always reminds me of the summers and spring breaks I’ve spent in Louisiana with my family and all the great memories we’ve made. It’s such an iconic song and truly an honor to be able to do it with my own spin.”
