Sam Hunt Speaks To Blending Genres Into 'Evolving, Changing' Country Music

Country star Sam Hunt believes the genre is evolving, and the Georgia-born singer-songwriter is embracing the ever-growing appeal.

Hunt previously caught up with iHeartRadio for an exclusive interview while traveling through New York City in a cab (and singing directions to the driver). During the conversation, Hunt was asked how he feels about crossover hits and blending elements of other genres into his country music.

“Everybody has a different definition for what country is, and I feel like the term and what it represents is evolving and changing now,” Hunt said during his chat with iHeartRadio’s Paul Costabile. “So, yeah, it’s hard to say. I love country music and consider my music country. But I like the idea that it appeals to more people than just the traditional country music fan.”

Hunt launched his career with his 10-track debut album, Montevallo, in 2014. The project was known for its hit singles like “Take Your Time,” “Leave The Night On,” “House Party” and “Break Up In A Small Town.” The Georgia-born singer-songwriter has gone on to release tons of other irresistible anthems over the years, including “Outskirts,” “Body Like A Back Road,” “23,” “Kinfolks,” “Hard To Forget,” “Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90’s,” and many others.
