Chris Stapleton paid a surprise visit to a teen who was the only survivor of a tragic car crash that took the lives of three of her family members.

Alex Moffett, 19, of Erie, Colorado, recently opened up about her recovery in an interview with Kansas City, Missouri-based FOX 4. The incident occurred in June in Warrensburg, Missouri. Moffett was airlifted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City to be treated for her injuries. She lost father, Derek Moffett, 55, grandmother Patricia Moffett, 83, and sister Catherine Moffett, 16, in the crash, which occurred when a 16-year-old boy fell asleep at the wheel, per initial information from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The driver has not been charged in connection with the incident as of publication time on Wednesday (November 27).

Moffett was in town with her dad and her sister to visit her grandmother and attend a Stapleton concert. FOX 4 reports that one of the surgeons at Regional Medical Center managed to reach Stapleton, who visited Moffett — after pretending he’d only FaceTime her and hanging up under the guise of a bad connection — and performed “Traveller,” the title track of his 2015 studio record. The 14-track project also included “Tennessee Whiskey,” “Parachute,” “Nobody To Blame” and more. Moffett, who is still on the road to recovery, said she plans to travel to Las Vegas in a few weeks to see Stapleton’s show.
