Adam Bohanan delivered a soulful rendition of Chris Stapleton’s “Think I’m In Love With You” when he took the stage during The Voice Playoffs on Monday night (November 25).
Bohanan prepped for the performance with his coach, country legend Reba McEntire, and Playoff Advisor Lainey Wilson. The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year said as she delivered a word of advice to the powerful The Voice artist: “Once you got halfway into the song I was roped in, but I know that you can rope them in immediately. I think it’s just getting sexy on ‘em even on that first line.”
The performance earned praise from the show’s all-star coaches, including McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg.
“Adam’s voice stands out because it’s powerful, he’s got great range, he’s got that gravel in his voice. He’s my dirty soul singer,” McEntire said, per NBC. “He was great with his eye contact, he stayed in the moment, he was having a fun time and that makes everybody watching have a fun time. Because he’s been so consistent, I had to have him continue on in the show.”
Stapleton included “Think I’m In Love With You” on his 14-track record, Higher, last year. The project also includes “What Am I Gonna Do,” “It Takes A Woman,” “White Horse,” the title track and more. Stapleton teamed up with surprise guest Dua Lipa to perform “Think I’m In Love With You” earlier this year at the 59th ACM Awards, hosted by McEntire at the world headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys at The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The award-winning country star also premiered a Running Bear-directed music video dedicated “to Poppop & Mommom,” featuring cameos of himself and his wife, Morgane Stapleton.
