Sundance Head shared new details about an incident at his ranch in Texas that left the country artist recovering from an accidental gunshot wound.

The former winner of The Voice, 46, shared a second statement on his social media accounts on Monday evening (November 18). Head spoke about what he remembered about that day, and how the incident happened. It took place when Head was hunting alone on his ranch around 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT.

“I had it [his .22 revolver] in a holster, and where I went wrong here was, this holster I had it in had no strap to secure this thing inside of it,” Head said in his video. “And I really don’t know what happened still, but I was the only one there, and this is what I remember, OK? I had put the bag, the backpack and the pistol in the passenger seat, and I set them down and began to back up to leave…I set it down and I backed up to walk away, and I was shocked. It happened that fast. And what happened was that revolver slid out of the case, and it hit the door jam on the Jeep, on the floor step, and it shot me. I mean, there’s just no other way around it. That’s the facts. And I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it. …And to be honest with you, man, I was very scared then.”

Head said he tried to find his phone, but “had just went into shock and didn’t know anything. I did not know what to do. I could not process anything. I didn’t understand.” He took off running, jumped the cattle gate and tried to flag down drivers passing by on the highway. “No one would stop, man. Nobody would stop. And finally, after about a dozen cars, I had a gentleman come back to help me, and he was like an angel from heaven, alright? And I was never so glad to see somebody in my life.”

Head shared his first video statement on Sunday evening (November 17), thanking the driver, first responders, the trauma team at the hospital and others for their help. He said at that time that he was thankful to be alive after “one of the craziest things that’s ever happened to me.” The former Team Blake Shelton artist closed his latest video by promising to “tell you some more here in a little bit.”
