Shaboozey couldn’t help but laugh when Gayle King reminded him of his social media posts from nearly one year ago.
The “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” star appeared on CBS Mornings on Thursday (November 7). King, one of the hosts of the show, met with Shaboozey at Desert 5 Spot, a country-inspired bar in Brooklyn, New York. That’s where she reminded the Virginia-born artist of a post he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on December 15, 2023:
“What I gotta do to blow up? To show y’all I really got this music thing on lock. Do I gotta go on a rant? Date a tik toker? Tell me…”
Shaboozey followed up in a second post: “I appreciate all the people that do support me and are true fans. Hopefully we come back to this tweet next year and have a good laugh.”
King wanted to know whether Shaboozey was “cracking up,” now that he’s marked a massively successful year with his CMA Award-nominated single. Shaboozey is nominated in the New Artist of the Year and Single of the Year categories at the November 20 show. He’ll also take the stage, along with Chris Stapleton, Post Malone, Dierks Bentley (featuring Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes), Luke Bryan, Ashley McBryde, Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims, and Lainey Wilson.
“I’m cracking up for sure,” Shaboozey said in his interview with King. together, the pair talked about Shaboozey’s career journey, why he goes by “Shaboozey,” moving to L.A. to begin pursuing his career, appearing on Beyoncé’s country album, and more. Watch the full interview here.
