Jana Kramer shared a powerful message about her daughter and a discussion with survivor Nillie Danesh on the latest episode of her podcast, Whine Down with Jana Kramer, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
This year, Kramer said she thinks especially of her young daughter, Jolie, 8, who made her acting debut alongside her mother in a Lifetime “Ripped from the Headlines” thriller earlier this year. Jolie played her mother’s on-screen daughter in Gaslit By My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story, which also starred Kramer’s One Tree Hill co-star Austin Nichols. Kramer starred as survivor Morgan Metzer in the based-on-a-true-story film, and included a PSA about domestic violence as the movie made its debut.
“There are many things I’m teaching her [Jolie], but the one main thing I try to drive home with her is her worth. And what’s right and wrong. I often wonder if I knew my worth and felt enough whether or not I would have allowed physical and emotional abuse for as many years as I did in my past,” Kramer wrote, in part, in a caption on Instagram on Monday (October 28). “Before I met Allan [Russell, whom she married over the summer] I also found my worth and through intense healing I realized what I don’t deserve. And no one deserves abuse. You are not alone in your journey. Today’s [Whine Down with Jana Kramer] we talk to a survivor who also shares her story and I hope by her and I both sharing some of our story it also helps someone who needs it ♥️.”
Kramer shared an important discussion with Danesh on her podcast, including about “love bombing,” and how that can escalate to physical violence. Danesh and Kramer both opened up about personal experiences they’ve encountered.
