Old Dominion paid tribute to late singer-songwriter Liam Payne after the globally-beloved artist died in a tragic fall from a hotel balcony earlier this week. He was 31.

Matthew Ramsey, frontman of the award-winning country group, covered One Direction’s 2014 ballad “Night Changes” in a video shared on Old Dominion’s TikTok and other social media accounts on Friday (October 18). The band wrote in the caption: “Thinking about Liam and the One Direction family … just like so many, we’ve been fans for a long time. Our hearts go out to you. ❤️”

Ramsey’s tribute is one of many in an outpouring of posts to remember Payne. In One Direction’s first post on Instagram since 2020, the band said in a statement that they were “completely devastated” by “the loss of our brother... We will miss him terribly.” Each band member — Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik — shared their own personal tributes in memory of Payne, in addition to Simon Cowell, Ed Sheeran, Halsey and may other artists and fans around the world. Payne’s family said in a statement that “Liam will live forever in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.”
