Lainey Wilson shared a sweet glance of her life with her boyfriend, former football quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges, on Wednesday (October 9).
Wilson, who spoke about her relationship with Hodges on a new episode of Broken Record, said there “ain’t nowhere I’d rather be,” as she shared a video that captured the couple in a rearview mirror. It was set to “4x4xU,” one of 14 tracks that appears on her latest studio album, Whirlwind. Wilson wrote it with Jon Decious and Aaron Raitiere.
“This song is about finding that someone that gives you the comfort and peace of home anywhere in the world as long as you’re by their side,” Wilson said in a statement when she released the song in July. “Thank you to the incredible Dano Cerny for directing this video and bringing the vision to life, and to all of my collaborators on this record for being a part of what I think could be my biggest song yet.”
Whirlwind also includes “Country’s Cool Again,” “Good Horses” with Miranda Lambert, “Call A Cowboy,” “Hang Tight Honey,” and more. The highly-anticipated record follows Bell Bottom Country, which Wilson released in October 2022. That studio album earned the Baskin, Louisiana-born artist her first Grammy Award earlier this year.
“Whirlwind is kind of the Western sister of Bell Bottom Country,” Wilson said in a press release when her latest album arrived. “Since that album, I have gotten to experience so many new things and meet folks from different walks of life. Because of that, I’ve become a better songwriter, and I have more understanding. I feel like I’ve truly stepped into what it is that I’m called to be doing. Ironically, I found my path within all the craziness—and that’s the whirlwind.”
