The Country Music Association announced nominees at the upcoming 58th CMA Awards on Monday morning (September 9), and although some of the genre’s biggest artists received multiple nods, other major names do not appear on the list.
Entertainer of the Year nominations, for example, include Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson. Other nominees include reigning award winners Old Dominion and Brothers Osborne. One artist who crossed genre boundaries into country music with a highly-anticipated album, Post Malone, also received a few nods for “I Had Some Help,” his collaboration with Wallen.
However, another hotly-anticipated, genre-crossing album did not appear on the list. Beyoncé, the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards Innovator Award recipient, released COWBOY CARTER earlier this year. The album did not receive a nomination at the 58th CMA Awards. The country-themed record included collaborations with some of the genre’s well-respected legends and rising singer-songwriters, including Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, Tanner Adell, Reyna Roberts, Linda Martell, Willie Jones, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone and Shaboozey (who received nominations in the New Artist of the Year and Single of the Year categories).
CMA hosts, performers and presenters will be announced at a later date. The 58th CMA Awards is slated to take place on Wednesday, November 20 at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The show will air live at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC, and will be available the following day on Hulu.
