Shania Twain could be the next major artist to scope out a location for a bar on Lower Broadway in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Reports emerged Wednesday (August 28) stating that the globally-beloved country star is teaming up with one of the existing establishments to put her own spin on a new endeavor.
The Nashville Business Journal was first to report, with confirmation from multiple sources, that Twain is partnering with Nashville Underground. The four-level venue is currently owned by pop artist Gavin DeGraw and his brother, singer-songwriter Joey DeGraw, who will remain involved with the bar when Twain steps in, per the Business Journal. Nashville Underground is located at 105 Broadway in Nashville.
Twain would join a growing female presence among the celebrity bars in Downtown Nashville. Earlier this year, Lainey Wilson debuted Bell Bottoms Up in the former location of Florida Georgia Line’s FGL House. Before that, Miranda Lambert long held the title of the only female artist to have a bar on Broadway with Casa Rosa. Other artists with honky tonks on Lower Broadway include Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, Garth Brooks and more. Luke Combs also confirmed a downtown venue in the works. In Midtown Nashville, Old Dominion and Riley Green are working on opening establishments. It’s unclear as of publication time on Wednesday when Twain’s venue would open, if she has one in the works.
Twain made a powerful self-titled debut with a 10-track album in the early 90s. She’s since become known for dozens of hit songs, including “You’re Still The One,” “Any Man Of Mine,” “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?,” “Honey, I’m Home,” “Come On Over” and many more. She’s embarked on worldwide tours, and most recently, returned to Las Vegas for a run of shows. Twain posted on Instagram as she celebrates her birthday on Wednesday that she’s “feeling like a bada** queen! …Let’s go totally crazy and have a s**t kicking time!!”
