Jelly Roll delivered a heartfelt performance of one of Toby Keith’s most sentimental hits throughout his decades-long career. The Whitsitt Chapel star covered “My List” during the Toby Keith: American Icon show hosted at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The pre-recorded tribute show is set to air on Wednesday evening (August 28).
Keith released “My List” on his 13-track album, Pull My Chain, in 2001. That album also included “I’m Just Talking’ About Tonight,” “I Wanna Talk About Me,” and more. A preview of Jelly Roll’s soon-to-air “My List” performance shows other artists singing along in the audience and Keith’s wife, Tricia Lucus, dabbing tears from her eyes. Keith, who died earlier this year after a years-long battle with stomach cancer, is also survived by his three children, Krystal Keith, Shelley Covel Rowland and Stelen Keith Covel.
“Go for a walk, say a little prayer/ Take a deep breath of mountain air/ Put on my glove and play some catch/ It's time that I make time for that/ Wade the shore and cast a line/ Look up an old lost friend of mine/ Sit on the porch and give my girl a kiss/ Start livin', that's the next thing on my list”
Other performers who took the stage in Keith’s honor include Trace Adkins, Priscilla Block, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Jordan Davis, Scotty Emerick, Brantley Gilbert, Riley Green, HARDY, Tyler Hubbard, Jamey Johnson, Krystal Keith, Ella Langley, Mac McAnally, Ashley McBryde, Parker McCollum, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Clay Walker and Lainey Wilson. The event supported The Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with a portion of the proceeds, per a previously-issued press release.
Toby Keith: American Icon will air as a two-hour television special on NBC on Wednesday, August 28 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
