Keith Urban said Lainey Wilson took their collaboration “to another level.”

Urban shared a video on Instagram on Monday night (June 17) to share a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “Go Home W U.” Though the song was never intended to be a duet, Urban said a friend of his, Dan McCarroll, suggested adding another voice to it. Urban said he “already had Lainey on my radar… because I love her voice and her vibe,” and the rest is history. He previously shared a screenshot of the text messages the two award-winning singer-songwriters exchanged to make the duet happen.

“I wrote ‘GO HOME W U’ in 2020 with BRELANDSam (Sumser) and Sean (Small),” Urban previously said via his record label. The song is the third one to release from his next album due sometime this fall, following “Messed Up As Me” and “Straight Line.” Urban and Wilson previously teamed up to perform “Go Home W U” when he made a surprise appearance at her headlining concert in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee, and again at CMA Fest earlier this month. The collaborative performance is one of 30 that will air in a televised CMA Fest concert special later this month.
