Kenny Chesney said “it was a thrill to be back in New England,” where he honored Tom Brady during his Patriots Hall of Fame induction. Brady joined the country hitmaker on stage when Chesney delivered a rendition of his Hemingway’s Whiskey anthem, “The Boys of Fall,” in Brady's honor. The ceremony took place before a sold-out crowd at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday (June 12). Chesney's “The Boys of Fall” quickly became an anthem embraced by football players and fans across the nation since its debut in 2010:

“Well, it's turn and face the Stars and Stripes/ It's fighting back them butterflies/ It's call it in the air, alright, yes sir, we want the ball/ And it's knocking heads and talking trash/ It's slinging mud and dirt and grass/ It's I got your number, I got your back when your back's against the wall/ You mess with one man you got us all/ The boys of fall”

The performance in Brady's honor arrives as Chesney is on his headlining “Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour” — inspired by the title of his early 2000s single — with special guests Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker. He previously said the name of the tour “captured a vibe and a moment so perfectly. No matter how much fun you’re having all day long, ‘everything gets hotter when the sun goes down.’ I know from years of experience that’s true. …It’s gonna be awesome.” The tour kicked off shortly after Chesney released his latest full-length studio album, Born, which he said “continues the story of who we are and how we live, breathe, work, rock, kick back and sometimes get tangled up in feelings that are anything but simple.”
