Carly Pearce ignited the stage with her newest, sassy revenge anthem when she appears on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night (June 10).

Host Jimmy Fallon introduced Pearce to the stage to perform “truck on fire,” which recently released on her highly-anticipated studio album, hummingbird. The 14-track project made its debut on Friday (June 7). Pearce, 34, wrote “truck on fire” with Lady A’s Charles Kelley and songwriter Justin Ebach.

“Birds been talking up on the wire/ Spilling your secrets all over this town/ You and her, back road, pulling all-nighters/ Did you really think that I wouldn't find out?/ Oh, so I found a little gas in a small red can/ Oh, last strike match flying out of my hand/ Liar, liar, truck on fire/ Flames rolling off of your Goodyear tires/ Burn, burn, you're gonna learn/ Never should've put your lips on her”

Pearce’s newly-released fourth studio album follows 29: Written in Stone, which arrived in 2021. That album shared Pearce’s stories of heartache after divorce with “What He Didn’t Do,” “Next Girl,” “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Ashley McBryde and others that quickly became some of the top songs of the award-winning artist’s career so far. Pearce explained she waited about three years to release another full-length record because it’s been “a really crazy” journey to heal and move forward to the next chapter in her life. To the Kentucky-born singer-songwriter, hummingbird represents a time in her life that she fell in love again, experienced heartbreak again, and gained confidence in herself.

“I hope that you see that no matter where you’re at, you’re right on time,” Pearce said. “Don’t let anybody tell you that just because you’re not living the ‘American dream’ or ‘society’s standards’ that anything’s wrong with you. It’s OK to not have it all figured out. You can still be happy through that, and I feel like what I have learned more than anything is that God gave me a really big story. A story that, if I’m honest, I don’t know that I really wanted. But I have owned it in the last three years, and I’m proud of it, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I just can’t wait for you guys to hear hummingbird.”
