Billy Ray Cyrus has filed for divorce from his wife, FIREROSE, less than one year after getting married.
TMZ reported on Tuesday (June 11) that Cyrus filed for divorce from FIREROSE, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, in late May. Court documents obtained by the celebrity entertainment hub and PEOPLE show that Cyrus cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” when he filed on May 22. Cyrus is apparently seeking an annulment, alleging fraud. TMZ notes that the country star gave his estranged wife a deadline to get out of their home at the end of May, and is paying her $5,000 a month (after 10 days of $500 per night) for the first 90 days or until the divorce is finalized to pay for her housing.
Neither Cyrus nor FIREROSE has publicly commented on the divorce as of publication time.
Cyrus, 62, and his “soulmate,” FIREROSE, 34, got engaged in late 2022. Cyrus confirmed the engagement following speculation over FIREROSE’s stunning ring that appeared in several Instagram photos. They previously shared that they met more than a decade earlier. Cyrus was taking his dog, his late German Shepherd, Tex, outside while he was working on the set of Hannah Montana, starring his daughter, Miley Cyrus, now 30. That’s where FIREROSE was walking out of an audition. She said during a previous interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show that Tex “was tapped into some divine purpose because we were, you know, at the time just friends, and all these years later — that was like 14 years ago — all these years later, we just got married.”
Cyrus and FIREROSE got married on October 10, 2023. They shared wedding photos on Instagram one day later. Cyrus said at that time that it was a “beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony. It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.” He posted a birthday tribute to her in December, hailing FIREROSE the “beautiful love of my life.”
In April, FIREROSE shared wedding day snapshots on Instagram again as she marked six months of marriage: “6 months ago I married this man. 🤍 Life isn’t always easy… but it sure helps when your husband’s also your best friend. Thank you Lord! 🤍”
They've since unfollowed one another on the social media platform.
Cyrus split up with his first wife in 1991. His marriage with Tish Cyrus, who shares five children with the country star, ended in early 2022 after nearly three decades. Cyrus shares five children with Tish: Brandi Cyrus, Trace Cyrus, Braison Cyrus, Noah Cyrus and Miley. He has one child, son Christopher Cody, from a previous relationship,
